I'm in Higher Ed, so we purchase through Internet2-Net+. Prices and storage tend to be negotiable. Note Box Drive does locally cache files that you have opened.

If they could just name it something else, or smooth the user interface further it would help! For ultimate security and privacy, this feature is a must. It is managed by professionals, colocated in a high-end data center with full redundancy and 24x7 onsite security.

Install Box Drive for Windows

So we're on Office 365, drinking the Koolaid - but until yesterday we avoided training the company on the poorly named OneDrive for Business. We box drive vs box sync Box and I am sure some of my people use a personal DropBox account. I looked at ShareFile but the price was no better and the sales team were too aggressive. I tried OwnCloud, but it wasn't ready for prime time and another security item to track. The OfB training went well. But we're only training people to transfer files that are not sensitive. One reason being - when you require a sign-up from a recipient outside the domain, the process is too complicated. They just bolt Anyone using this successfully. OneDrive for Business doesn't seem to have made much of a dent. Anyone using it for secure file transfer. Hi Mike, OneDrive for business is a separate sync client from the OneDrive personal. Once you download and sign into the OneDrive for business client you will have to copy the data to the new sync location on the computer and re-share any of the shared folder if any and basically set this up new, You can have both of them running simultaneously on the same computer I have both a personal OneDrive and OneDrive for Business using the same work email address. They are two separate services. I would suggest syncing both to the same computer and manually moving the files from the personal folder to the work folder and let the sync client take care of uploading the files to O4B. Stay far away from OneDrive for Business!. We had Egnyte setup as an in house cloud storage, the price was a little high for us so we dropped it for OneDrive for Business. Dumbest thing we did all year. We started looking for a better option almost immediately. We eventually went back to Egnyte with just filesharing because it was something everyone already box drive vs box sync but my users hated OneDrive. Plus it is a pain in the rear to manage. Plus it is a pain in the rear to manage. It can be a nightmare especially if you do not have Sharepoint experience. However in my ~2 years with Office 365 I have seen tons of improvements to the system from what it was originally. Like many other options it could work for your business it could not work. Our organization is very concerned with public records requests and how things like OneDrive could potentially open a lot of cans of worms. I've been using the microsoft platform fow a long time, ever since it was msol, and I really gotta hand it to microsoft, they have continuously made improvements, upped storage levels, uptime is through the roof. But the support is where they are really shining lately. Support is quick, knowledgable, and provide a lot of follow up. Now if they could only clean up OneDrive and make it as reliable as Box or Egnyte that would be amazing. CrazyLefty - I have to second that, aside from being transferred around a lot, Microsoft support has been surprisingly good. If they could just name it something else, or smooth the user interface further it would help. Josh - Were you using it recently. I think the main issue we have is that we don't want it to synchronize folders by default. If we could make that optional it would prevent a long wait when setting up the system, or logging on. For a lot of our users it just hangs when it gets to the sync option. My users' profiles are overloaded with files. So, what I would like is for it to not ask about sync, just require you to post your files or folders manually. I haven't actively used Onedrive for Business, but in my understanding older desktop Business clients had quite lot issues. In my understanding they are more or less using consumer version client. Though I have to say that its bit confusing, Windows 10 has the next gen client all ready inbuilt. If I go trough portal. Then it opens configuration wizard that configures my consumer client. Then it opens configuration wizard that configures my consumer client. That is certainly a murky customer experience. We're more monolithic here - all Windows 7 up to now. It's been in a constant state of flux for the past 18 months at least since I started working with O365, but basically they've deprecated the old Groove. They're continuing to tighten things up and improve in leaps and bounds. I suggest that people take a grain of salt with anecdotal reports about the problems people have had with Onedrive for Business over the past couple years, because it's changed and improved so drastically. Most of the feedback you'll read here and elsewhere is already out of date -- basically like me saying I won't buy a Ford because my dad had a lemon back in 1974. I have had countless problems with OneDrive for Business for the past 5 years. With one client, we went with Google Drive because it was so much more reliable. Another client we tried Layer2 cloud synchronization to try to mirror their file server in OneDrive. It was a little better than the OfB sync client, but still had hundreds of errors each sync. Today, I thought I'd give up on the sync and just upload a folder through the browser. It returned 755 errors on 4200 files. My next step is to try MigrationWiz in an attempt to actually get a clean upload and then consider going all online. I fear syncing is a recipe for disaster. If clients want to sync, I think DropBox or Sync.

You won't be able to work on it from home! Plans and Pricing Both Dropbox and Box offer different plans for personal and business use, and segment business use into small clients classified based on the number of users and large, enterprise customers. However, if you have multiple accounts, you cannot switch from one platform to another unless you log out and log in again. So, what I would like is for it to not ask about sync, just require you to post your files or folders manually. With OneDrive for business, you can set the custom permission level for users in your company and add it to existing lists available while OneDrive personal allows you only to edit or read. Like many other options it could work for your business it could not work. Box Sync can now upload folders and offers more flexibility than earlier versions.
